Description
M4 Sherman tank from World War II era. It was not the fastest; it did not have the thickest armor; it didn't have the most powerful gun; and it wasn't the most agile. But there were a lot of them and they helped the Allies win that war.

This photo was taken at the US Army Ordinance Museum, Abdereen Proving Ground, Maryland. Sad to say that the museum has been closed and all these wonderful machines have been moved to long term storage in Virginia. They are no longer on display and who knows if a proper display facility will ever be built given the funding challenges that face the military. The longer they sit in storage, the more they will be forgotten. I would like to think that there are people around who consider these old tanks to be important enough to, eventually, be seen in public again.
